Abstract
With growing concerns over climate change, pollution, and food security, the global food industry faces significant challenges. Sustainable food systems are essential to ensure future food security, addressing economic, social, and environmental dimensions. This study reviews international and domestic policies, focusing on reducing food waste, improving resource efficiency, and promoting circular economy principles. Key initiatives, such as the EU’s “Farm to Fork” strategy and Canada’s National Zero Waste Council, highlight the role of collaboration and innovation. While South Korea’s food policy addresses some food loss and waste issues, it lacks a comprehensive food circulation system. The paper also explores corporate efforts in upcycling, waste reduction, and using technologies like AI and IoT to optimize supply chains. The findings emphasize the need for integrated approaches, policy support, and technological advancements to build a sustainable food circulation system in South Korea.
